One of the things that I am really appreciating about our Philippians series at the moment is the fact that Paul is writing from lockdown. The authorities were worried about how infectious the gospel was becoming so they put Paul under house arrest to try and stop the spread of Christianity. Of course it didn’t work, and the gospel continued to grow all over the world.
In the Bible there are four letters that Paul wrote during his lockdown; Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon. Even though his way of life was restricted and his social contacts were limited, his letters during this time are filled with hope and joy.

Paul’s gospel perspective has so much to teach us during our own lockdown at the moment, so I encourage you to join me in reading Colossians and Philemon over the next three weeks. You can download a copy of the reading plan here.
